As part of its ongoing Green Initiative, ATX has provided its global customers alternative semiconductor package applications that are environmentally friendly. In the year 2000, a company wide effort was initiated for lead free packaging, which later grew into the full blown Green Initiative we have today. We mobilized our partners - materials suppliers and process equipment suppliers - to work closely with our engineering teams to develop lead free and green solutions in our total packaging menu step by step. Conversion to green is a challenging and long term effort and we are proud of what we have accomplished. ATX continues to collaborate with industry organizations to derive standards and find the right combination of materials for green packaging.
A majority of our IC pakages are already qualified as lead free and we are targeting to complete the conversion of the remaining packages in year 2005 before the European Union’s Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive comes into effect on July 1st, 2006.
